The music video doesn't contain any narrative, therefore mainly concentrates on the band footage. They are placed in what seems to be an empty a space; which creates the idea of lonliness or abandoment, this can be linked to the lyrics at certain points so it emphesis the meaning the band are trying to portray creating a deeper connection between the band and audience. There are quick cuts from shot to shot this would be to link to the upbeat pace of the music making the music video seem more flowing and in time. I also notice several close ups on the guitar, this may be because the guitar plays a big part in this song so the intrument is repeatedly shown to focus on all the music beats rather than the singer. It also shows that the band are not seen just to focus on the lead singer; like most bands are known for, Biffy Clyro involves the whole band. Throughout the video a sepia effect is used, this has been done to darken the image adding more of a mysterious effect to the music video, it may have been done to exaggerate the lyrics, as they are singing about a girl, they may be trying to create more of a myterious atmosphere surronding her character. Another effect that has been used is the 'old cinema' style line running down the screen. This could have been used to add the impression the video has some sort of centimental value, something that the audience can link to, creating a better connection.
